deceptionshark: (Redeemed: Know this)

[What does it mean to redeem oneself? How can it be done when he had spent most of his life believing that he could do no wrong? As much as Megatron wants to change himself the same way he handles most of his problems- by charging in headfirst- he knows he cannot.

He is, no, was, Megatron: The fiercest and most ruthless being in the galaxy. It is no simple thing to go from that to... something else.

Megatron doesn't want to be Optimus. That's the most important thing here. He wishes to be something more, but he'd never want to be Optimus. There are some things he simply cannot measure up to.
]

Ahhh Optimus...

[Megatron is kneeling on what remains of a ruined gladiatorial arena. Very few know the significance of this particular place. Quite conceivably, this is where it all began. In this particular arena so long ago. Who would have guessed that the meeting of two entirely different stories- the passionate Gladiator who lived life fighting to exist day in and day out, and the gentle Librarian who recognized the wrong in the world and attempted to right it- would end like this.

In a fit of mournful nostalgia, Megatron closes his eyes and tries to imagine what it was like back then. It doesn't take much before the memory of the cheering, chanting crowd and the snarl of his opponent comes back to him. His opponent's name and face are not important, only the way he died by Megatronus' hand.

Not long after that gladiator had died, Megatronus had his first meeting with Orion Pax, the mech who would change their entire destiny.
]

Can you hear me Optimus? Orion?

You have always had this habit of being there when I needed you. I do not suppose that death will have changed that?

[He chuckles to himself.]

Look at what I have been reduced to, my old enemy. But you cannot say that it is the craziest thing I have done. I will persevere, as I have always done, but I could use some... guidance...

...Please...
